Eight years ago, I never imagined I’d be living in the Netherlands. At the time, I was experiencing a new phase in my life, my two children were grown, and I was running my business in Arkansas. Life felt uncertain, and I leaned on tools like meditation to navigate that season. 
 
Believe it or not, that’s how I met my now Dutch husband — on a meditation app. We were both starting over, and both searching for balance. What began as a small connection turned into a long-distance relationship that lasted nearly two years. He had three children of his own, one still at home, and was working full time as an electrical engineer. Eventually, we knew it was time to bridge the distance. 
 
Because of my situation, it was easier for me to make the move. Still, I never dreamed in a million years that I’d leave America. But I did it. And if I can do it, truly, anyone can. 
 
That’s not to say the process was easy. Immigration and relocation come with their share of logistical headaches, emotional challenges, and unexpected bumps along the way. We did everything ourselves — no outside help, no relocation service, I would not suggest that! Just two people determined to start a new life together. 
 
Now, eight years later, I can look back with gratitude for the struggles and the lessons. They gave me not only a home here in the Netherlands, but also the experience and knowledge to help others who want to take this leap. Whether you’re moving for love, work, study, retirement, or simply for a fresh start — I’ve been in the trenches of figuring out paperwork, cultural adjustment, and rebuilding life from the ground up. I know the good, the bad, and the ugly. And I can make the journey smoother for you.
